Sir Henry Pottinger, the first governor of Hong Kong, will grace our Inaugural Auction. With his signature on this ‘On Her Majesty’s Service’ cover to invoke the frank-free privelege, this might well be the earliest On Service cover of Hong Kong. Compare this with his signature in the 1842 Treaty of Nanking which concluded the Opium War.
