1876 (29 Mar.) printed circular to London (6.5 per docketing) “via Brindisi” bearing 6c. lilac, well-cancelled and tied “C1”,showing matching “A/Canton” origin and Hong Kong (29.3) c.d.s. on reverse, adhesive faded and light ageing, the earliest of only three recorded “C1” printed matter usages (and the only at the 6c. rate), the second-earliest of the 42 recorded “C1” covers, as well as the earliest recorded use of the second 6c. printed matter rate, an important Canton adhesive printed matter usage. The 6 cents rate for “papers” to U.K.via Brindisi and Marseille per revised rates published 1.1.76.
