Transit Kwangtung Shayuyung (22 May) with Chinese cds. Mails to/from Fukien via Shayuyung with Chinese transit cds were mostly domestic or incoming usage from Hong Kong or Southeast Asia. International example with Shayuyung Chinese cds is extremely scarce, if not unique. Magnificent example of wartime secret postal route.”.

Description of Lot 725 has been corrected to “1945 By S. Wan from Institute of Nutrition Research, Army Medical University, Anshun (28 Nov) to USA. Airmail registered express cover, f.w. SYS 10x $20 on reverse, tied by Kweichow Anshun cds. Arrived Philadelphia (23 Dec). S. Wan was an eminent Chinese nutritionist and pioneer of nutrition research in China as well as the founder of the first Institute of Nutrition Research in China. Exceptional wartime example.”.
